  • Rick "Woody" Ahneman: “My appearance in the movie "Woodstock." Captured in the "Wooden Ships" YouTube video clip entitled "The Legend of Woodstock 1969" appearing at segment 5:19. I'm in Blue shirt and white sailor cap.”

  • Tauria Linala mentioned this FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/271895793250342 Album Art Appreciation Association.

  • Nice memory: “I was 19 years old, at the 1975 Winterland concert. No chairs on the auditorium floor, Just packed with people dancing and swaying. I was standing about 30 feet from the stage...joints passed from hand to hand coming from who knows where. White Rabbit came on and all the lights went out except for the one aimed at the disco-ball spinning from the ceiling. When the first chords sounded, the roar of the crowd left my ears ringing for days. Peak Moment.”

  • Stephen Olende recommended Jorma Kaukonen’s 2018 book Been So Long: My Life and Music. I see that it’s available from many local libraries.

  • I misspoke when I said the Grateful Dead were known as The Warriors. The name, of course, was The Warlocks, which makes a lot more sense. Mea culpa!

  • Todd recommended the Richie Havens cover of “High Flyin’ Bird”

  • We discussed Bay Area rock historian Richie Unterberger’s classes and presentations. Send him an email to learn more.

  • Richie has free virtual presentations being hosted by the Community Living Campaign including one on Dec. 14 on classic British album covers and another on Dec. 28. on the 1960s rock TV show Shindig!

  • Some of the places people joined us from: Cahokia, IL, Dallas TX, NYC, Portland OR, Puerta Vallarta Mexico, Arizona and Victoria British Columbia.

  • Lisa recounted her experience seeing Grace Slick perform with the Jefferson Starship at Winterland in SF: “no seats, so whole audience standing and really packed together. Joints being passed around from....whoever. Suddenly everything went completely dark, the disco ball started to spin and sparkle, and the went right into White Rabbit. Out of body experience.”

  • From Barabajagal: “Marty’s sideburns had their own zip code”

  • There was a question about how common it was for a band to play live on TV with no tape delay. We saw Grace on the Dick Cavett show singing “Up against the wall, motherfucker!”

  • Barabajagal asked if there is a different intro verse in the Crosby, Stills and Nash version of “Wooden Ships.” Their song has a different musical intro but the lyrics are the same as Airplane version of the song we heard.
